Cooking is an activity where a helping hand is always welcome\u2014provided you can\u00a0work together closely as a team and aim to have fun. All recipes are twice as satisfying\u00a0when they\u2019ve been made with two pairs of hands, so get to it: put on some music, open\u00a0a bottle of wine and light the hob. Now all you need to decide is who does what\u2026\u00a0who\u2019s the chef and who\u2019s the kitchen hand? To help you out, here are some ideas for\u00a0two in the kitchen:<\/p>\n

Cannelloni: a classic for helping hands<\/span><\/h5>\n

Cannelloni are just the thing, because while one of you is working on one stage, the\u00a0other can be getting on with the other. First you need to make the filling: tuna, tomato,\u00a0mince and p\u00e2t\u00e9 (to bind it together and make it smooth and tasty), spinach and pine\u00a0nut. And cook or hydrate the pasta sheets.<\/p>\n

Once it\u2019s ready, the kitchen hand should spread the strained pasta sheets on cloths,\u00a0arrange the filling and roll the cannelloni. Meanwhile, the chef should make the\u00a0b\u00e9chamel sauce: extra-virgin olive oil, flour, milk, salt, nutmeg, plenty of patience and\u00a0lots of stirring. You want to get a light, smooth sauce without any lumps. Pour the\u00a0sauce over the cannelloni on an oven tray and cook au gratin.<\/p>\n

Turkey breast stuffed with king prawns and port sauce<\/span><\/h5>\n

Teamwork! While one of you fillets and halves the turkey breasts, the other can be\u00a0peeling the fresh king prawns. Once you\u2019re done, place some fresh spinach leaves on\u00a0top of each piece of turkey, along with 3 or 4 king prawns, and roll them up and tie with\u00a0kitchen string. Gently poach some onion in extra-virgin olive oil and sear the rolls. Put\u00a0by.<\/p>\n

Now, one of you should place the breasts in the oven, and keep watch until the prawns\u00a0are cooked. Take them out and remove the kitchen string. The other one should be\u00a0making the sauce on the hob: you\u2019ll need a glass of port, a glass of chicken stock and\u00a0200\u00a0ml of evaporated milk. Add salt and pepper to taste and serve with the meat.<\/p>\n

Mexican style: I\u2019ll make the guacamole; you make the fajitas<\/span><\/h5>\n

One can slave over the hot stove, while the other keeps cool. For the guacamole you\u2019ll\u00a0need 2 avocados, 40\u00a0g spring onions, 80\u00a0g tomatoes, half a lime, half a teaspoonful of\u00a0chopped, fresh coriander and salt. Chop all the ingredients up finely (leave the\u00a0avocados until last as they\u2019ll go brown quickly) and mix together. Add salt, a dash of\u00a0lime juice and flavour to taste. You can add chilli pepper or tabasco for an extra bite.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the chef can be making the fajita filling: for example, strips of beef with\u00a0green, red and yellow peppers, chunks of onion, peeled, cubed tomato and a pinch of\u00a0chill pepper or tabasco. Fry everything together in extra-virgin olive oil.<\/p>\n

Warm the tortillas and serve the guacamole with totopos. Time to take off your aprons,\u00a0pour yourselves another glass of wine and enjoy the food and company.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
