How to get every last grain of sand out of clams

17 July 2018

Here’s the definitive trick to getting sand out of clams. You’ll need three things: a fairly large glass bowl, one or more bottles of fizzy water and a pasta strainer. Put the clams in the glass bowl, cover completely with very cold fizzy water and leave to soak for at least half an hour. You’ll soon see all the sand piling up! Once they’ve had 30 to 45 minutes, rinse them well under the tap using the pasta strainer. Et voilà!
