One of the great things about pasta—spaghetti, penne rigate, fusilli, farfalle…―is that it goes with almost any ingredient. It’s perfect for meat or fish dishes. Or cold dishes, such as a pasta salad. You can mix it with whatever you like. You can even eat it on its own! Whatever you do, though, just make sure not to forget the extra-virgin olive oil to bring out all the flavours and add that healthy touch that no meal should be without.
Most pasta sauces already include olive oil in their ingredients, including amatriciana, arrabbiata, Bolognese, carbonara, pesto and puttanesca, among others. You’ll also need a dash of olive oil to sauté any ingredients. Not to mention a delicious drizzling on top before serving to bring out all the colours and flavours before you tuck in.
