Oven-roasted potatoes: a healthy substitute for chips

5 June 2019

Who wouldn’t give their kingdom for a portion of chips? Historically France and Belgium have both claimed to have invented them, although they only really become popular in the United States. Anyway, we can all agree that they’re amazing. But we all know that if you’re not careful, you can easily put on the pounds.

Don’t worry, though, because there’s an equally delicious alternative with fewer calories: oven-roasted chips! They can be just as tasty as chips: just make sure to use good-quality potatoes drizzled with extra-virgin olive oil and topped off with your favourite herbs and spices.

You can chop up the potatoes as thickly or thinly as you like or simply cut them in half. Preheat the oven to 200 ºC, chop up the potatoes and add extra-virgin olive oil and salt and pepper to taste. Pop them onto an oven tray and bake for 35 to 50 minutes, depending on how thinly you chopped them up. Soon you’ll have a portion of tasty, healthy oven chips. Drizzle with some Mediterranean vinaigrette and you’ll never look back. You heard it here first.

And if you can’t be bothered to open the oven door, you can microwave them instead!
