Apple Tart with Balsamic Vinegar

Ingredients
- 1 rectangular sheet of puff pastry
- 3 red apples
- 40 g brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 40 ml Borges balsamic vinegar of Modena
- 40 g melted butter
- 30 g flaked almonds
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 tablespoon honey
Step by step
-
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 200 ºC. Roll out the puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and, using the tip of a knife, score a border of about 2 cm, without cutting all the way through. Prick the pastry all over with a fork inside the line.
-
Step 2
Core the apples and slice them thinly, leaving the peel for color.
-
Step 3
Mix the apples with the brown sugar, cinnamon, and 20 ml of balsamic vinegar. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
-
Step 4
Drain the apple slices and arrange them on top of the puff pastry, slightly overlapping and forming rows. Brush them with melted butter and sprinkle the sliced almonds on top.
-
Step 5
Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg and bake the tart for 25-30 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and the apples have softened.
-
Step 6
Heat the remaining 20 ml of balsamic vinegar together with the honey in a small saucepan for 2-3 minutes to make a thin glaze.
-
Step 7
Take the tart out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes and drizzle the glaze over the top.
